I can't help but ask you how a hybrid will work after 2nd jobs.

Hunters (for bow) would be effective mostly with a dirk.

Vagrants would specialize in melee.

So are hybrids more melee or range based?

List of cards I'm using (Bow Fighter)

(Card Name)
#Listed Effects
*Comments

BOW CARDS
Arrow of Dealy
#P.atk +12
#Duration of Summon Lasting Effect +3 sec
*Guess its good if you want to kite stuff, but otherwise worthless. Even a tortus can reach you with 1-2 seconds to spare from max distance. Can find anytime for 50-100k on Tortus

Heat Shot
#P.atk +24
#Summon Lasting Effect Level +1Lv
*Gives +1Lv burn. Another super cheap card cause no mid-high level bow fighter uses this. <50k on Tortus.

Virtulent Arrow
#P.atk +10
#Summon Lasting Effect Lvl+1
*Gives +1 Lvl poison. Cheap skill, fast cooldown so i use it from time to time just to use some MP. ~100k on Tortus

Spiracle Shock Shot
#P.atk +51
#Duration of Summon Lasting Effect +0.4sec
*Best Bow skill, Lvl 5 = 100% stun, so ever bow fighter should have one. 200-400k on Tortus

GENERAL CARDS
Mental Concentration
#Cool Time -5%
*Saves 30sec of cooldown, not very useful. ~200k on Tortus.

Spiricle Vitality
#Summon Lasting Effect Lvl+1
*+1 Vit, so 1 more def and like 25 HP. 100-200k on Tortus.

Energy Charge
#HP Recovery +80
#MP Recovery +12
*Good cheap skill that keeps Fighters going. 150-500k on Tortus.

Spirale Charge
#MP -1
#Casting Delay -8%
*Saves 0.02 sec to recharge (WOW). Don't see many on sale so can't really predict price.

Blaze Revelation
#Summon Lasting Effect +1
*+2% on base melee attack damage. Skill descprtion says it adds dam to skills as well, never tried. Not sold that often either so value is unknown.

:D Thanks alot, do you happen to have Freezing Arrow as well? I'll start to include the cards into the guide on my guild site first and then edit it and post on this forums (max word length issues).

Hey Dash..thanks a ton for this guide. I started not long ago..still on the training island..but can leave when I want to. I'm thinking of doing primarily spear, 1h sword, and bow. Do you think that is too many or no? I picked up a spear as soon as I got to the main hub of the island and have loved it ever since. I just recently picked up a bow and like it as well.

After looking at the skills, It seems that there are only a small handful that are not accessable if I stick with those three weapons.

What do you suggest?

It's entirely your choice. If your main weapon is a Bow, go ranged. If your main weapon is a Melee, go melee.

However, on that note, I'm going melee in 2nd job because I see more potential in the melee job as compared to the ranged one. Plus, I haven't invested levels into Equip Archer's Suit or Archer's Concentration yet :/

Those 3 weapons are perfect :) Do note you might have problems at the 35-45 levels as your skills will be potentially "spread out" because you'll have to learn Spear Mastery AND Practice leaving your other skills with little JP to be invested in, and hence the power difference at these levels between you and "Pure" weapon fighters can be quite obvious. Once you start to hit the late 40s or early 50s however, you'll seem stronger than them because of the variety of skills at your disposal.

That makes sense about the lvl 35-45. I may start going 1hs and spear heavy for a strong start, by the time I hit 50 I should be able to work up my bow skills easy enough. That way I don't get passed up as a DD. I'm lvl 16, on the main continent now and am loving log split. I'm going slower than normal trying to let my pet level up a little.

Do you use a pet dash? Are they worth it for a non pet class?

Yes, I only use my fighter to breed the pet though (i.e. let it get exp). I have a pet class which actually play (i.e. fight) with the pet.

hey dash, under cons of the spear/2h sword you have fastest atk speed of the 2h weps listed and if thats a con then slowest atk speed of 2h weps shouldn't be a con against the axe :P

Hey Dash, you definitely did a great job on producing a valuable guide for starting Fighters, I'll definitely be linking any new fighters in my guild to this page!

A few questions though, in your opinion, how do 2H Axe play out as you get into R3/R4? Some say that the accuracy of 2H axes get significantly better but I'm looking at 2nd class jobs and I don't see skills that improve 2H axe accuracy.

Also, I'm looking at the Special Packages under Item Shop and I noticed that there's only a R3 special package for bow fighters/2H axe & spear users-both 1H and 2H Sword users are left out =/. In your experience and from what you've seen, is there such a thing as Ancient 2H Swords? http://www.morgheda.net states "Ancient versions add Crit ratio +2%" under the Sword category but I'm not sure whether that applies only to One-Handed swords or both 1H and 2H.

2h swords do add 4% to crit rate like the other melee 2h weps, and as far as 2h axe accuracy goes, they are most likely refering to the accuracy of the weapon as opposed to a passive in the 2nd job or maybe the accuracy becomes less of a problem as you lv up being as your natural accuracy would raise along with your jlv

also i do believe there is a 1h and 2h sword pack, or at least there was at one time

Tanking and Assasin Hands

Postby toxicbunny » April 1st, 2007, 1:59 am

WOW Great guide Dash :D

I hav lvl 40 2H sword fighter. Lately I hav too tank ALOT in dp.... seems HW all on vacation? So after reading your awesome guide here I am thinking of going sword/shield for this purpose. But I'm just wondering if its not very difficult to keep Agro< without high damage from 2Hander< awy from those skill spamming DM & striders?

Also the explination for Assasin hands says works with 1h sword or dirk BUT then says usable with all weopons.....
I have tried it and I can cast it with my 2hander but does this skill actually work then or not?

Assassin Hands will make up for the 2H sword damage, trust me :)

Nope. Assassin Hands only works for 1H sword and dirk.
