1. Introduction
Hey, I'm new to writing guides for people so correct me if I'm wrong on anything =). This guide has been created to help the noob spellsingers find their way o n how to play the spellsinger to the max. I will try to make it easy for you all to read and enjoy. So i hope you like it =).
2. How to play the spellsinger
The spellsinger class is the Gaia summoner class which specializes in pets, they're one of the best damage dealers in the game and also make a good tank, the way you should play your spellsinger in dp is as a damage dealer, don't waste time using your Soothe creature skill on dying pets because it wont do much good, you're not a cleric nor breeder so just focus on doing the most dmg you can.
3. Which skills should i max?
Fighters Combat Skill: MAX - Passive that increases patk when equipted with swords and axes.
Creature Mastery: MAX - Increases Patk of the creature(s) summoned.
Armour Mastery: MAX - Increases Pdef whilst wearing armour.
Mind Defence: Lv1 - Waste of JP - Increases Mdef.
Natural Sorcery: Lv1 - Waste of JP - Increases Matk.
Spinning Blow: Lv1 - Waste of JP - High mana cost.
Unity of Vit: MAX - Increases the Vit of caster and creature
- Will be the toggle that will be on 90% of the time, max this ASAP.
Unity of Force: MAX - Increases the Force of caster and creature
- Good for farming and dping if the tank is doing a good job but of course Vit comes first.
Unity of Mentality: Lv1 - Increases the Mentality of caster and creature
- Not good until high lvl i hear.
Unity of Int: Lv1 - Increases the intelligence of caster and creature
- Unless you have a BP/RP which needs help with a bigger mana pool.
Creature Breeding: MAX - Increases Exp rate of summoned creature
- Only if you have a pet lower than you otherwise Lv1.
Log Split: MAX - Decreases the targets Pdef
- Useful in pvp, against dungeon bosses, and dungeon mobs, regular mobs are usually dead fast enough to make a real effect.
Creature HP Expansion - MAX - Increases Max HP of Creature
Soothe Creature - Up to you really - Recovers creatures HP slowly overtime.
- Waste of mana for the amount it heals your pet.
Creature Purification - Lv1 - Eliminates one of the lasting effects that was applied to creature.
- Waste doesn't do anything.
Creature MP Expansion: MAX - Increases Max HP of your Creature
- Only useful if you have pixies i think.
Chainsickle wind: Lv1 - Decreases Atk Speed and Movement Speed.
- Useful for dungeon bosses or for kiters in PvP although it doesn't improve by lvl.
Blasting Rock Cut: Lv1 - Stun
- Takes 2.5 seconds to cast and then has effects only useful in PvP, so its up to you weather you lvl it or not.
Threat of the wild/spirit: Lv1 - Fears beasts, players, dragons, angels, demons and spirits.
- Threat of the wild will fear pets in pvp but not players so i don't think its implemented yet.
Creature Regeneration: MAX - Increases max HP&MP recovery rate of your creature.
- Useful xD! You don't have to buy the passive on creatures.
Scorching Flame - Lv1 - Causes Fire DoT.
- Waste of JP, only useful for pulling and PvP against sins to stop them cloaking.
Mental Concentration: MAX - Increases Crit Rate.
- Very useful in sticky situations
Also just good to increase kill speed.
Anger Of Wild: MAX - Increases Patk & Matk of you and your creature.
- Good Combo with mental concentration.
Anger of Spirit: Lv1 - Consumes creatures HP&MP and does DoTAoE creature cannot move whilst this is in use.
Creature Control: Depends how many creatures you have - Allows you to put 3 creatures into formation.
Summon Creature: Up to you - Summons your creature that you have in formation.
Dual Axe Training: MAX - Allows you to use Dual axes and increases Atk speed and accuracy.
Harmony Of Life: Lv1 - Allows you to transform into your creature and increasing HP&MP, no creature can be summoned whilst this is in progress.
Beast Disguise: Lv1 - Allows you to transform into your creature for a short time increasing movement speed.
- Useful for running to dungeon party spots.
Pass Damage: - MAX - Transfers some dmg taken to the creature.
4. What is a spellsinger
A spellsinger is the Gaia Summoner, we're classed as a DD in dungeon parties. They don't rely on their pet as much as breeder and sorcerer do.
5. What pet should i use
Turtle: Good for tanking but spellsinger have a high amount of HP and a decent pdef so i don't think its the best pet, Their buff at lvl40/75 is quite useful though.
Poultry: Not sure never had one and tbh i don't want one!
Pantera: Good for DD i think this pet would be suited if you cannot afford a non NPC pet.
Blue Pixie: 50% of Spellsingers use a blue pixie to heal their selves but i do not, it reduces killing speed and we all know we can cope on scrolls pots and groceries.
Red Pixie: Good combo, it does excellent burst damage and is good to use anywhere.
Orc: Its a good DD this is also a good combo.
Yeti: Not bad but not the best.
Siren: Good for PvP and its ok for DDing.
Skelly: Never lvl'd one high enough to see how good they are with SpS.
Others i do not know sorry ^.^
6.THANKS
Thanks for reading my guide, i hope you have enjoyed it please feel free to write comments if and what needs improving, If you're going to flame then flame somewhere else because I don't want to hear it ^^. I also hope this guide has helped you into the mind of a spellsinger and will also help you and your way of the Gaia Summoner life on rappelz!
Thanks.

hi hi ^_^ good job
just a couple of points, r pixi after a couple of level of creature regen wont run low on mana, so mp expansion is good only for b pixi in stressy situations.
b pixi is a good pet even if she is 10+ levels below you, jusp pop her out if you need a heal or two and use you main pet for DD.
I've a skell and a red as my main pet so i can say something about them, and i've got a siren for a quite long time.
Red, she is very good for siege, arena and farming, but you will need a dualed b pixi to keep her alive on the long run.
In dp she has a good damage, but orc-skell have better overal damage, all of her skills dont create the death lag.
Skelly, a good DD with good spamkills. good in pvp (stun) and farm, he looses something in dp because all of his attack skills causes deathlag on mobs.
Siren, good farm and PvP pet, high damage with serenade of undine + bow and a number of debuffs, but she requires a lot of micromanagement. in dp serenade create a ton of deathlag so her damage is minimal.
remember that at lvl 80+ yeti gets the 12 sec stun :3 go go PvP

Re: Tramp's Spell Singer Guide
i think that's a good beginner's guide overall. it summarises which skills to max and whatnot, which is one of the questions i'm often asked by guildmates, and in the future, if i feel lazy, i might just point them to this guide . . . XD
i would also like to add some points. firstly, i'm not sure if this is true or not, but as i raised the levels of my fears, i noticed they failed less often, although to be honest, i'm not sure if this is actually due to skill level or increased wisdom (through character leveling) and have never actually tested this. if someone knows for certain, feel free to correct me on this.
secondly, i would max beast disguise. the higher levels last longer, which is very useful for running longer distances in dungeons (especially useful for the larger ones as you move on).
as pointed out in another topic, unity of mentality can be good in pvp against caster classes. a spellsinger's natural wisdom coupled with the unity will often times be enough to make your opponent's spells fail quite a bit. however, i think this unity can wait until after vitality and force are both maxed, unless you pvp often.
oh, i also noticed, you left out pass damage and creature taming, though i hope that that would be obvious to most people. i'm just pointing it out in case anyone new to the game reads this. max these two skills o.o
EDIT: also forgot to add my opinion on the pets o.o i have one thing to add really. i think yetis can be a good pet choice, as long as you have pass damage, as you will have a good hp pool to draw on, with the yeti's natural high hp. my yeti has 9k hp when on my evoker . . . handy for pass damage
the drawback to this though, is that you would need a good healer/breeder to keep it alive for you in a party situation as soothe creature is just not good enough . . .

Re: Tramp's Spell Singer Guide
On the position in DPs you forgot to mention that at higher levels you may be asked to tank if a tank class is unavailable.

I'm afraid this guide is for 'Spell Singer' not the evoker class sorry.
I also think this post should be stickied it helped me and pursuaded me to turn to a spellsinger a few hours ago!

stickied as per request, and cos i think it's a good guide for beginners, though i noticed that you are missing a section on what stones to use
there is a lot of debate as to what stone build should be used, so i think if you added it, it would make for an interesting section.

As a higher level Singer in the 40s I was stuck tanking a few times because we couldn't find a fighter or HW.stake wrote:auther_pendragon wrote:On the position in DPs you forgot to mention that at higher levels you may be asked to tank if a tank class is unavailable.

Increasing the level of the fears increases their accuracy, I tested it. Also it's one of the few spells that don't have a crazy mana increase per level.

Re: Zuke's Spell Singer Guide
I dissagree that pantera is the most suitable NPC pet for beginners. Tortus has damage and defense passives that the pantera doesnt have. In my opinion Tortus works better than pantera or poultry as both tank and a dd. Plus the defense buff which you thoroughly mentioned.
As for non-newbie pets Orc is probobly the best pet. Good dd/tank and gets a really good buff once it gets into its 80s.
Really great guide though. Im going to make my first Spellsinger/evoker soon once E5 comes out and even though i havent played in a long time and dont know all of the changes E5 has to offer, this guide gave me a really good idea on how to play and build my ss.
Thank you much sir ^_^ you gave me just what I was looking for

Re: Zuke's Spell Singer Guide
I think it's awesome you took so much time to make such a great post, and I understand that it's a work in progress... I have a few critiques considering that some of your facts are opinion based and not quite researched yet, but your on the right track....
For instance, the only Unity toggle you'll ever use in the end is Vitality, the added Pdef and hp bonus with a +2, +3 or +4 card is by far the best Unity of the lot.
You will never use Unity of Wisdom, adds Mdef and Maccuracy..
Unity of Int adds mattack which you'll never need, your casting pets are powerfull as it is, and your rp/bp/siren doesn't need any more agro then it's allready gonna get
Unity of Force adds Str and Pattk, not enough to make a big difference, try it for yourself, you'll see
Sooth creature is awful, just plain awful..long casting time, rotten heal, too much mana for a mana challenged class as it is
Best basic pet for beginner is the Turtle, best common is Blue Pixie, we are talking first pets here, but the big secret among all 'veteran' players is, all pets are usefull..I got a evo 3 chicken that will rock your world, Panteras make great belt pets for sin's, many R5 Evokers still use turtles as a tanking pet or just for the pdef buff, they rock..Rp's are the desired pets for pvp, and with a duel summon Skelly, awesome, or vice versa.. pet stuns, Hawk, Yeti they are tanking pets, Yeti breath of Ice, Call to Arms, Siren debuffs, Orc as a tank/dd, Duel summon combo's..Lots of this changes in Epic 5, I could go on and on.....
There is no better tank then Evoker, and no other class can out damage an Evoker, bring duel summoning into the mix, and there are endless combinations for duo, trio, full party, solo, pvp....experiment with them all for yourself first, then give an informed opinion..
Try concentrating on the build, soul stones etc.. describe the skills and toggles, give a general impression as you see it through pratical application
Awesome start and good luck...!!!!!!

I must diss agree with this statement.toofargone wrote:For instance, the only Unity toggle you'll ever use in the end is Vitality, the added Pdef and hp bonus with a +2, +3 or +4 card is by far the best Unity of the lot.

When I am fighting ranged mobs or in a DP Vit is of more use. Ranged mobs start pounding on me before I can reach them so the extra HP and Def help more there. In a DP Force would cause me to out aggro the tank or I am the tank so the HP and Def are needed more.
When solo farming non ranged mobs(vs pixie Vit is better) I find force to be of more help than Vit due to the kill speed. I am losing about the same % of my health with each but I kill the mob faster with Force.
Understandably with the argument of Vit vs Force if you have 1 of the skills at a higher level or boosted with a better card that skill will be of more use than the other. I currently have level 5+1 on both.
Wisdom is seldom used but it is effective if/when you fight DMs and their 2nd jobs. Wisdom means they can't debuff you and the spells do less damage.

Hmm..wisdom is useless..
I use two blitz rings, my guildy uses two +20 str rings, he's got +10 armor and axes, mine are +6 and +7 but its all a matter of taste and preference, but High lvl Evokers allways use Unity of Vit, as I said before, the hp and pdef bonus outweigh the not too great extra pattk wth force..cheers
