DISCONTINUATION NOTICE: Unless I begin to play Rappelz actively in the future, I will not continue to update this thread. I know that I never truly made a final Epic 5 release of these builds but it seems like there is some great discussion on the topic. Please feel free to continue the discussion here, but I will not be updating the main post. Thank you all for your excellent contributions and continue to have fun in Rappelz.

NOTICE: (from earlier) This guide is NOT final, and for now, is not up-to-date. MP issues are a primary concern in Epic 5 and the builds listed here do not address MP management. Please see the last few pages of discussion for some thoughts and ideas on addressing MP issues in your pet's build. Once again, this guide is NOT tested. It is meant to show possible Epic 5 pet builds. When Epic 5 is released, some or all of the builds will be updated dramatically.

DISCLAIMER: The information posted here is as accurate as I have been able to find. However, until Epic 5 has arrived on the US servers and can be verified, please be aware that errors may very well exist in this guide.

Also, I am only posting builds that I have made for myself so that others might get some use out of them. I WILL NOT DESIGN BUILDS BY REQUEST SO DO NOT POST SPECIAL BUILD REQUESTS. Please feel free to discuss, criticize or correct the builds I have posted, but do not expect me to make a custom build to suit your own needs.

SOURCE: The pet skills listed here were posted on the Alizarin HQ forums as translated from Korean sources.

Introduction:

In Epic 5, most pets have very similar skill sets. This is very different than Epic 4. Since many pets use almost the exact same skills, general build designs can be applied to many pets. A tank build can be applied to a yeti, orc, or skeleton and achieve somewhat similar results. A purely offensive build can also be applied in the same manner. The variety of pet will affect the base stats of the creature and the flavor of debuff, unity toggle and other unique skills.

It is still important to pick the right pet for what you wish to accomplish, and certain builds will work best for certain pets. I will make pet recommendations for each build.

It is important to remember that the different pets have different "flavors" of many skills. Kentas may focus their skills around P. Attack and Strength modifiers, while Yetis will focus their skills around P. Defense and Vitality modifiers. Also, the teirs of pet rarity will affect the power of certain skills. The skill effects of rare pets will usually be much more powerful than the same skill effects of NPC pets.

A generic skills list is provided at the bottom of the guide. This applies to most melee-type pets. I will NOT list pet-specific skills charts or skill statistics in this guide. Please look elsewhere for this information.

Builds:

The builds listed here are what I believe to be excellent builds to suit various purposes. JP in Epic 5 is extremely tight and not all desired skills can be incorporated into every build. Some skills must be discarded in favor of others. The builds listed assume fully overbred pets are being skilled. Non-OB pets will need to make further sacrifices.

For each build there are recommended skills listed in black and optional skills denoted with **. Not all optional skills may be learned. It is suggested that the combined total of Evolution One and Evolution Two skills costs not exceed 110 JP. Some extra JP may be left over after following a build and the player may use it in whatever skill he/she thinks is best.

Before following any build, it is highly recommended that the player understand his/her pet and it's specific skillset. It is also important that the player understand what the skills being learned do and why. Anyone complaining that I have somehow screwed up their pet because they did not know what the hell they were doing will be laughed at.

Pet-Class Tanker/DD Build [5-10-08]
This build is most suitable for yetis, orcs and hawks. It will give the pet high passive stats and threat increasing skills. The pet will have the 2-hit and debuff damaging skills to increase damage output and OB Vitality for extra defense. Since the build is designed for a pet class, the JP for max HP and HP regeneration was skipped in order to maximize more important skills for incoming damage reduction and damage output.

Options (marked **): The threat increase toggle only needs to be high enough to allow the pet to control aggro over its competition. It is suggested that the user test this skill to find the lowest suitable level of this skill in order to save JP. The production skill is not necessary to this build, but some players may want it.

EVOLUTION ONE
Lv 1. 1 JP, 1 level. Creature Item Expert.
Lv 1. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
Lv 1. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Defense Passive.
Lv 10. 5 JP, 5 levels 2-Hit Attack Skill - 15sec Cool.
** Lv 15. 5 JP, 5 levels Threat Increase Toggle.
Lv 20. 5 JP, 5 levels Debuff Attack - 10sec Debuff, 30sec Cool.
** Lv 30. 2 JP, 1 level Stun Attack/Charge - 2sec Stun, 1min Cool.
** Lv 40. 2 JP, 1 level Equipment Unit Skill.
Lv 45. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Lv 51. 10 JP, 10 levels OB Vitality - +1 Vitality.
Total: 51 JP (plus 0-9 optionals)

EVOLUTION TWO
Lv 50. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
Lv 50. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Defense Passive.

Lv 95. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Lv 101. 10 JP, 10 levels OB Vitality - +1 Vitality.
Total: 103 JP (plus 0-17 optionals)

EVOLUTION THREE
Lv 100. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
Lv 100. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Defense Passive.
Lv 110. 5 JP, 5 levels 2-Hit Attack Skill - 15sec Cool.
** Lv 115. 5 JP, 5 levels Threat Increase Toggle.
Lv 120. 5 JP, 5 levels Debuff Attack - 10sec Debuff, 30sec Cool.
Lv 145. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Lv 150. 10 JP, 5 levels AOE Attack Skill.
Total: 153 JP (plus 0-22 optionals)

ALTERNATIVES
- 8 JP for Evo 1 and 2 Threat Increase Toggle and 2 JP for Evo 1 equipment unity can be traded for 10 JP accuracy (+15).
- OB Vitality can be traded for OB Strength or Evo 2 and Evo 3 3-hit attack skill to increase damage.
- OB Vitality can be traded for Pet Inspiration (Evo 2 and 3) for players who want to maximize party effectiveness.

The Glass Cannon [5-11-08]
This build is most suitable for Pantera, Skeleton, Orc, Hawk, Kenta or any other high-damage pet. The build maximizes all of the big nuke attacks and also puts a few points into pet accuracy. There are no JP leftover for defense oriented skills, but Orcs and Hawks are attack/defense hybrids and will be a bit less powerful and a bit more sturdy with this build. A pet class can utilize this build in a non-tanking pet to provide maximum damage output while the tanking pet keeps the enemy locked with his +threat toggle. Non-pet classes will just have to hope that their Glass Cannon pet does not pull aggro because it will die rather swiftly. The build for a Red Pixie will be very similar to this build, using all nukes and attack skills and substituting O.B. Int or Max HP for O.B. Strength. Red Pixies may need to be heavily altered in order to take advantage of fear which will cost 10 JP per Evolution to max.

Options (marked **): Stun and stun charge are optional. This skill does not add a lot of damage but is very useful for utility because you can lock down a target for a few seconds while firing off your biggest nukes. The evo 2 equipment unit skill *may* be optional for orcs or hawks or panteras who choose to use a bow over a melee weapon for maximum nuke potential and increased accuracy. Bow using pets will want OB dexterity instead of strength and may choose not to spend 10 JP on accuracy. The production skill is optional.

EVOLUTION ONE
Lv 1. 1 JP, 1 level. Creature Item Expert.
Lv 1. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
Lv 10. 5 JP, 5 levels 2-Hit Attack Skill - 15sec Cool.
Lv 20. 5 JP, 5 levels Debuff Attack - 10sec Debuff, 30sec Cool.
** Lv 30. 2 JP, 1 level Stun Attack/Charge - 2sec Stun, 1min Cool.
Lv 45. 10 JP, 5 levels Accuracy Increase - +3 Accuracy.
Lv 45. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Lv 51. 10 JP, 10 levels OB Strength - +1 Strength.
Total: 51 JP (plus 0-2 optionals)

EVOLUTION TWO
Lv 50. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
** Lv 50. 1 JP, 1 level Pet Production Skill - 12hour Cool.
** Lv 50. 2 JP, 1 level Pet Prod. Usage Skill - 10sec, 20min Cool.

Lv 70. 5 JP, 5 levels Debuff Attack - 10sec Debuff, 30sec Cool.
Lv 85. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Inspiration - 10sec Duratn., 20min Cool.
Lv 90. 2 JP, 1 level Equipment Unit Skill.
Lv 90. 10 JP, 5 levels 3-Hit Attack Skill - 3min Cool.
Lv 95. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Lv 101. 10 JP, 10 levels OB Strength - +1 Strength.
Total: 113 JP (plus 0-5 optionals)

EVOLUTION THREE
Lv 100. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
Lv 110. 5 JP, 5 levels 2-Hit Attack Skill - 15sec Cool.
Lv 120. 5 JP, 5 levels Debuff Attack - 10sec Debuff, 30sec Cool.
Lv 135. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Inspiration - 10secDuration,20minCool.
Lv 140. 10 JP, 5 levels. 3-Hit Attack Skill - 3min Cool.
Lv 145. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Lv 150. 10 JP, 5 levels AOE Attack Skill.
Total: 173 JP (plus 0-5 optionals)

ALTERNATIVES
- Evo 2 and 3 Pet Inspiration (20 JP) may be traded for the Accuracy Passive. This will reduce spike damage and increase average damage.
- OB Strength (20 JP) and Pet Inspiration (20 JP) may be traded for more cost-effective skills such as Defense Passive (30 JP) or Max HP Increase (10-15 JP) or Evo 1 Equipment Unit (2 JP) which will add 10% HP with the primary armor type.

Party Support Pet [5-26-08]
This build is most suitable for orcs, yetis, hawks, or skeletons on non-pet class players in a DP situation. The build focuses on providing access to party buffs such as the Pet Inspiration skill and the Pet Production Use skill. The pet will have Maximum HP increase to help it survive occasional aggro and can have skills such as the debuff attack and stun to help reduce enemy effectiveness. This build is lacking in accuracy increasing skills and may not allow the pet to hit very well against higher level mobs or in PvP situations. There are ideas listed in the Alternatives section for how to address this. An alternative is also given to suit this build for a pet class.

Options (marked **): The stun charge and Production Use skills are optional.

EVOLUTION ONE
Lv 1. 1 JP, 1 level. Creature Item Expert.

Lv 20. 5 JP, 5 levels Debuff Attack - 10sec Debuff, 30sec Cool.
** Lv 30. 2 JP, 1 level Stun Attack/Charge - 2sec Stun, 1min Cool.
Lv 40. 2 JP, 1 level Equipment Unit Skill.
Lv 45. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Total: 48 JP (plus 0-2 optionals)

EVOLUTION TWO
Lv 50. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
Lv 50. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Defense Passive.
Lv 50. 1 JP, 1 level Pet Production Skill - 12hour Cool.

Lv 85. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Inspiration - 10secDuratn.,20minCool.
Lv 90. 2 JP, 1 level Equipment Unit Skill.
Lv 95. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Total: 106 JP (plus 0-4 optionals)

EVOLUTION THREE
Lv 100. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Attack Passive.
Lv 100. 10 JP, 10 levels Physical Defense Passive.

Lv 135. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Inspiration - 10sec Duratn., 20min Cool.
Lv 145. 10 JP, 5 levels Pet Unity Toggle.
Lv 150. 10 JP, 5 levels AOE Attack Skill.
Total: 171 JP (plus 0-4 optionals)

ALTERNATIVES
- 10-14 JP for the Debuff Attack skill can be used for the Accuracy Increase Passive.
- Pet Classes may use the 15 JP for Max HP on Accuracy instead.

Support/Combat Siren [5-17-08]
This is a build I am considering for my siren for use as a secondary pet for a Soulbreeder. The siren will focus on both melee attacks and magic damage-over-time (DoT) attacks. The siren will substantially reduce the incoming damage by debuffing the enemy's accuracy greatly. Although the siren's attack skills are magic-based, it will be important to maximize the siren's normal attack damage as well. I will do this with O.B. Strength while wielding a two-handed mace. This siren is not suited for PvP purposes because of the lack of Fear and O.B. Intelligence.

Options (marked **): I have not decided on options yet.

Total: 56 JP

Re: ZooZoo's Epic 5 Pet Builds Guide

Postby cammy537 » Sat May 10, 2008 1:54 pm

I hope everyone finds this guide helpful. I know it is a lot of information. If reading makes your head hurt, my guides and posts are not for you.

Rules for discussion!!

Please keep discussions centered around the guides provided and do not generate discussions related to specific pets or their skills if it does not relate to one of the guides specifically.

Do not post solicitations for pet skills charts or other Epic 5 information. If it is not posted here, do not ask for it here.

Please do not post requests for specific builds. I will update the guide with more builds at my own pace.

Please inform me of errors in the information listed here and I will update it.

Do not cry here if you skill your pet and screw up because you did not understand what you were doing. This is a guide created to help inform and educate people, but it is not the only or possibly the best way to do things. If you have a better build for a given purpose, please post it and I may incorporate your choices into the guide if I feel they are the best way to skill a pet.

Enjoy! I hope this is helpful.

Nice one Zoo, informative guide on the basic's of pets in e5. Sad to here they become so uniform, I liked the different skills between the pets. But nice guide nonetheless.

Yes, I am rather disappointed that many of the unique facets that make all pets different in Epic 4 are being removed. There will still be a wide range of pets being used in Epic 5, but the differences will come down to which type of buff/debuff best suits a player's needs. It's quite annoying that agility based pets are being removed at the same time that agility is returned as a vaiable stat in the game.

Great guide! thank you
I have kinda a dumb question though. If you have two pets summoned do you get both pet buff toggles/unitys from them? Also if you have two of the same pet would u still get both?

I'm thinking we might have to wait till E5 to know this stuff, but i thought you just might have some insight

Thanks!

surprised no blind or stun on your build. Or is that just for pure DD ?

That particular build is for tanking/DD. The blind is utterly worthless and I don't think you will find it in any of my builds. With a whopping 20 JP, you can get a 5 second blind once every 3 minutes. The stun/stun charge will find its way into some of the future builds because you can take full advantage of a 2 second stun once a minute for only 2 JP.

You will only get one unity. I'm not sure which unity will win, whether it is the first one out or the most recent one out. Check Alizarin HQ forums for detailed info on Epic 5. This thread is not intended to be an Epic 5 information hub.

As this question could relate to builds, you may want to take into account that one pet's unity will ONLY apply to the pet itself. For instance with a blue pixie, the MP regeneration unity would not be enough to cover the MP upkeep cost, so of course if your character was not getting that unity, it would be worthless to have on your BP.

can you explain why you choose OB Strenght and OB Vitality?
In most guides for pets in e4 its said that you should invest the jp in better skills cause they arent doing much (2 patt, 2 pdeff 30 hp). You said yourself that the jp in e5 are thight.
Wouln´t it be better for example to get the deff passive for the glass cannon. For 10 points you would get 70 deff on excommon or 80 on hawk instead of 20 att. In evo 3 that would be 210 deff instead of 60 att.

For certain builds, OB skills will not be as effective towards achieving the most benefit for the JP. The two builds I have presented so far are builds which seek to maximize single traits (damage reduction for the tank build, and damage output for the glass cannon build).

In the Tank/DD build, my priorities are 1) Damage reduction, 2) Holding aggro, 3) Having a decent damage output with attacks. This is designed for use with a pet-class which will get 130% benefits from stat increases (due to Creature Mastery). So 20 Vitality will translate into 52 defense and 780 HP compared to 29 defense and 438 HP on a non-pet class. The possible alternatives to OB Vitality would be +30 Accuracy or Evo 2 and 3 of the 3-hit attack skill which charges once every 3 minutes. Some pet owners will find that maximum defense is not their #1 priority and will get a lot more benefit by making a few simple tweaks to this build.

For the glass cannon build, I am seeking to create a pet with the highest possible damage output. A few skills I used in this build I may have left out of a balanced build. The pet inspiration skill is very expensive at 10 JP per evo for a 10 second party buff every 20 minutes. It will, however give the highest possible damage when stacking attacks. Lastly OB Strength does not give as much return as, say, the primary defense passive skill, but it does push the #1 priority for this build. A balanced build based on The Glass Cannon could easily free up 40 JP from OB Strength and the Pet Inspiration, and possibly another 10 JP from accuracy (though I suspect some form of accuracy increase will be needed for most pets.)

I have added an alternatives section to each build which will list various exchanges that can be made to modify each build.

I forgot that non pet classes get only 0.7 out of stats so chosing ob vit/str ist even worse for them than i thought.
Well I guell ill wait till e5 is a bit nearer and look how skills change till then and what builds worked in korea.

Hi ZooZoo and GZ on the guide, nice like always

I know that until we get the E5 up and running, and even then some crazy patch can change things (wouldn't be the first time), it's hard to talk about something in detail but still here goes.

I had the same idea for my BS pets as it's on your guide, one pet for tank (Hawkman) and one pet for DD (skelly or even the orc) trying to make the most use of the creature intimidate and creature stability to keep the aggro on the tank plus the toggle. But with that in mind wouldn't the HP recovery + HP max be a better bet than the Physical Attack Passive ?
I know you say "Since the build is designed for a pet class, the JP for max HP and HP regeneration was skipped in order to maximize more important skills for incoming damage reduction and damage output" but even then for a tank wouldn't that help more, making the pet abble to take more damage, before need a heal and recover better needing less heal? Or the Attack Passive gives that more damage to the pet that really makes it the way to go?

Maybe i'm thinking "BS way" too much counting on the skills(creature stability/intimidate) to keep aggro on the tank and less on the damage that the pet needs to do to help the toogle keep aggro on him plus trying to give that extra HP that may help the pet survive until the next heal is up to be used. But even breeders with the great heals they have would be happy having to heal less i think.
Don't really know if the HP recovery in pets is any better in E5 or if it makes a big difference, or if the HP max is that big that allows for the pet to take 2 or 3 more hits before red light is up, just asking so i don't end up messing up too much lol.

Well, non-pet classes get 73% from pet stats if they get their 1 point of creature mastery. (=

Have no fear, there will be some non-pet class builds posted at some point. The major considerations for these builds will be 1) not getting aggro 2) not dying from the occasional aggro and 3) emphasis on the utiltiy skills such as inspiration party buffs, stuns, etc.

@slayerdwarf1

[this post edited to reflect the correct stat values]

Max HP for ex-commons will give you 600 HP (edited. earlier I stated 500 HP) per evo @ 5 JP per evo. At low levels this is more of a help than at high levels. It is also more helpful to non-pet classes so that their pet does not die every time it takes aggro. I know for sorcs the healing comes much slower, so it depends how much "buffer time" you need before your pet bottoms out.

HP regen for ex-commons is something like +12 per JP which is +12 hp per minute regenerated. Overall, you will be getting back 120 HP (evo 2) to 180 HP (evo 3) per minute. The mobs commonly fought at high levels are dungeon mobs so this will afford you one or two extra hits per minute at most. I figure if you can bump up your damage significantly, you will be avoiding at least a hit or two per minute from killing your mob quicker. I think that overall the boost in damage output will help you more than the boost in Max HP and HP regen. Maybe if you are taking very very low damage you can get a small benifit from HP regen but it is not likely to be worth 5 JP per evo.

Keep in mind that the tank/DD build was designed for my yeti which of all pets will need the most help in the damage department and which will have a great amonut of HP. Orcs and Hawks will fare pretty close to the yeti, and skeletons and kentas and other purely offensive pets will be the farthest from my original concept.

Remember all of the builds can be starting points and if a particular alteration is what your class and setup calls for, go for it. Good luck.
