Can GM or game Dev implement "timeout" on multiple wrong password?

What if the person that is being hacked logs in a minute after the attempted hacking? He just can't log in for a set amount of time? Also what if the person has caps lock on and doesn't notice it for a couple of ties, and then gets locked out.

Oh by the way its not like the devs/gm would actually do this without a cash persuasion.

I would rather the GMs spent time unlocking inadvertently locked accounts than 10 times the amount of time restoring them.

The only thing that this would solve however is brute force attempts and honestly I don't think brute force is that prevalent.

I was more referring to timed locked. Typical OS has timed locked if you tried multiple times with wrong password. Whenever this happens, account is locked for 10 minutes for an example.

If your account is locked when you try to login, that implies that someone is trying to hack your account. Then user can report to Gala. With many tries, GM should be able to find out the IP.

I guess you can be locked out for long time if hacker is constantly running a script to hack.

Actually afaik the way they are getting in is via brute-force. It's just that they're not brute-forcing the password.
