I personally like to use combat. In a DP with buffs, the more the creature attacks, the more the buffs will help in increasing damage.

For pets that low it's sort of hard, both power and combat won't do much for the chicken, I would probably use power support on the orc though. What toggle you use is really dependent on the build of the pet, if your pet is skill spamming attack speed isn't as useful so you would use power support for that extra little kick, and on the flip side if your pets are more passive skill based, with not many spammable skills, use combat support, you increase your overall damage. I of course mean these in a DP context, if you're soloing outside a dungeon power support is better since the mobs aren't going to be alive long enough for a slightly higher attack speed to matter. If you're soloing inside a dungeon, well it all depends on if you have buffs or not I guess, buffs = combat support, no buffs = power support.

I'd use power at that level whether you're dping or soloing.
Start using combat at 7x or 8x probably, in dps.
Combat will eventually be better soloing unbuffed too, but when depends on a few things.

If im using pass damage i use power support. I find that extra bit of hp handy. It does depend on what im fighting and what pet i have out. Skele will def use combat support. Prob the same for my siren. For my pantera i use power support since it is squishy enough in the first place.

There aren't really many cases where the extra 600ish hp is actually needed.
If it doesn't regen fast enough, you're going to have just as much downtime whether it has 10k hp or 11k.

magic support (increase cast spd) on siren would increse whipping frequency, but it only shows in dp.

It wouldn't really affect it enough to make it better than power support.
Pets already cast short spells for the most part, magic support doesn't do that much.
Only pet i'd ever use magic on is bpixie, just because matk does even less for it's heals than a minor cast speed bonus.

Re: Power vs. Combat

I use Power while I was a sorc: +9% atk spd is not as much as +50 patk to a 2h-axe-using orc (I got no poultry). The extra +300 hp comes in handy in the early stages (my sorc had no bp until it became a BS and I managed to buy a fresh bp).

Now I use power support depending on what pet I've got: I use evo2 orc and tortus, so with Orc I'll go Combat (it has warrior unit = +patk when wearing Warrior armor, so +10% atk spd is better on it than +55 patk), with Tort I go Power (Tort has a +pdef passive while wearing Warrior armor, I just need to give it the power it lacks compared to an Orc).

For you who has Orc/Chicken, I'd suggest the same for your Orc (Combat once you're BS), and your chicken I think you should go Combat too (once it's evo2 lv60+10 with Beak of Gaia toggle on ~ +150 patk). It also has Hunter Armor passive (+5% atk spd I think) so it'll stack with your Combat support nicely (+15% atk spd woot, put a dagger on it and it's 115 atk spd +150 patk). If your chicken doesn't do enough damage to take aggro off you (low lvl sorc/BS should refrain from taking aggro because lv5 Pass Damge is piss and hunter armor's better than your summoner armor), give it Power Support, or give it a 1h sword or spear or 2h sword or 2h axe, depends on your liking.

In DP I tend to use Combat Support because if my main pet (Orc) is fully buffed, +55 patk is nothing, +7 atk spd is much better (cleric + huna + SB/CM buffs). I also tend to put Combat in DP because I usually don't want my pet to take aggro in a DP (lots of noob clerics and SBs don't heal my pet and it's definitely not because they can't see it on the dp list cos I never dual summon in dps). In dmr where I was still a sorc there were even idiots that don't buff/heal pets... So if Power Support makes your pet outdamage the noob tank in dmr, give it Combat instead.

Note: For magic sorcs, ALWAYS use Spirit Support (the one that increases matk and mp). RP use up a lot of mp and it's better to have +300 mp than nothing. BP's heals become slightly better with +50 matk, RPs do wonders with spells. I only have BP atm but I don't really care whether Magic/Spirit is on them, Magic is better but I don't need Spirit Aura so I haven't touched that tree yet, hence my Spirit/Magic Supports are at lv1. ^^ For RPs, they have no FA/LB, what can Magic Support help them with? After they quickly finish their spells they'll just resolve to basic attacks until the spells finish cooling down. Whether they cast faster or slower, mp cost is the same, cooldown is the same, I rather give them Combat Support if they are meant to basic attack after using spells (not Power because they may get aggro, and they're squishy pets). I also don't encourage putting 2h mace on rps: if you're magic BS you use staff and spells and your pets do the same, no point weakening your DD pet in what they're good at. Plus they can get more aggro if their basic attacks are higher than your FA (FA is only 70% matk coefficient and you're not a full magic class like CM).

For SB they can equip anything they want on their rps, even run them naked to tranq fast room if they want to since they can heal their butts off.

A red pixie on a sorc shouldn't lose any mp.
On a non pet class, they lose mp slowly.
