Magic Sorcerer

Postby michael189 » Fri May 09, 2008 11:52 am

i have a magic sorcerer on lydian and some okay pets havnt played in a while i am close to being able to become battle summoner only problem people say i have to overbreed him to be any good but right now he is so weak i want to cry. Like seriously does low damage, dies against everyone and i am rappidly running out of patience and oh lack of solo ability so i was wondering if i should just try to overbreed further or just do his JTT so i get the skills even though i miss out on the stats
or just be a dark magician. i dont even know what im looking forward to anymore

Ok so you seem bent on being a magic caster however magic in this epic is not really a good choice for sorcerer. Even when you become a battle summoner using magic becomes limited because as you gain more toggles to use the more mp those toggles drain and the lower your mp pool is.

1) Go ahead and OB your sorc, the xtra stats are actually useful.
2) Focus on getting two good excommon pets e.g. orc, skell, yeti etc
3) Focus on getting your creature breeding and dual summon levels as high as possible once you finish OB and get to Jlvl 40 as quickly as possible.

You see regardless of whether you go magic or melee you are weak. However once you get to Jlvl 40 of being a battle summoner and get your auras + dual summon you will go from being weak to being very strong.

Sorry but the Sorcerer/Battle Summoner is more of a end game character. Of course there are some that are pretty good early on but they are either using pimped gear and/or pets so don't get down on yourself.

and oh how bad would it be if i did job transfer test as soon as i hit job 40. asking because it seems like until i actually get some good skills im fairly useless and its getting really boring.

I would actually suggest not OBing for a few reasons. First of all you spend so many points that could be used on your next classes' skills. Secondly, by the time you actually catch up in skills, the extra points don't matter at all. They equal about 1% of your total points. All it does is make the game more difficult for you.

It doesn't make the game difficult for you at all, I've OBed a sorc and not OBed a sorc, and you will notice a difference. CV pre r4, you will need all the stats you can get . As for taking longer to catch up skill wise, Battle Summoner has the biggest skill tree of any class, its going to take you a while to get all the skills anyways, you won't notice the loss of the JP from OBing, and besides, its not as if JP only comes every time you level, you get it from every single kill, so you're not going to miss it.
