Level 30 sorcerer With Various Questions...

Postby boomhauser » Tue Mar 04, 2008 11:37 am

Hello After using a bow fighter since epic 3 I bored to hell with the class considering all i do its jam a penny at the f1 key lol no offense to anyone that likes bowfighters. Anyways after trying out sorcerer I am loving it a ton considering it can do almost everything and a lot more strategy involved.

Anyways after selling most of my gears I now have aquired a level 41 skeleton pet with the following skills

Passive:
10 evasion mastery
10 Defence Mastery
5 HP
5 HP regen
1 Archery unit ( hunters suit passive )

Active:
3 Feast of wind
3 thunderbolt

Are these skills good ? or will I have to purchase a pet re specialization potion? I am going for attack speed skelly with a 2 handed spear and STR + AGL for damage and evasion boost so is this a wize choice ?

Next of all After a friend of mine recommended I go all out on jp levels now i am job level 25 and have put a point into every single skills just to unlock and open tree so should I continue to save jp just for job levels until i hit 40 or balance it out by putting points around?

so far I only have all passives to level 2 except the one that puts pet attack up which is 5.

Now to the important questions:
I found tamed and level a blue pixie to level 34 I don't really find any use for it anymore and considering I am only using sorcerer should i bother to keep the pixie? or should i trade it for another skelly or orc to dual wield summons in the future?

Can anyone recommend me the best second pet to get or is keeping the blue pixie a good choice?

Any information about my character and the road to level 50+ is greatly and extremely appreciated.

P.S should i bother to over breed my sorcerer just for a few more stats up?

Next of all After a friend of mine recommended I go all out on jp levels now i am job level 25 and have put a point into every single skills just to unlock and open tree so should I continue to save jp just for job levels until i hit 40 or balance it out by putting points around? Put points around. I don't see why you shouldn't, especially since a Sorcerer's Jlv 40 skills suck (except pass damage, but that doesn't work well with a skelly). One of your most important passive should be Creature Mastery. That's like the most important skill for pet classes, as it strengthens your pet considerably. Get it to a high level. Seeing how you have a skelly, don't add any levels into the magic branch. Other skills you should invest in should be weapon mastery, power/combat toggle, lion's claw, and creature regeneration.

Now to the important questions:
I found tamed and level a blue pixie to level 34 I don't really find any use for it anymore and considering I am only using sorcerer should i bother to keep the pixie? or should i trade it for another skelly or orc to dual wield summons in the future? Keep the pixie.

Can anyone recommend me the best second pet to get or is keeping the blue pixie a good choice? Well, currently I use a siren + blue pixie in dungeon parties, and it works out great. Don't underestimate the damage potential of BPs; mine deals more damage than I do (it uses +4/10 2h mace). Also, note that if you dual summon in DPs, the party window gets bugged, and the first pet you have out won't be seen by healers. A BP is good to have out as a supporting pet in dual summoning, for quick heals for your other pet, and for the damage.

P.S should i bother to over breed my sorcerer just for a few more stats up?Up to you.

Sorcerers aren't too great until you get dual summon (and then later, the battle summoner's Jlv 40 skills. So stick to DPs to level up quickly.

Once you change classes, your first primary goal should be concentrated on JLv and dual summon passive. At least that's what I did.

your skell is good... check out the skell guide in guides section

such and agressive stratergy is not necessary, I have seen ppl do this after getting second job to get auras fast but i dont see the point...
so far I only have all passives to level 2 except the one that puts pet attack up which is 5.

Now to the important questions:
I found tamed and level a blue pixie to level 34 I don't really find any use for it anymore and considering I am only using sorcerer should i bother to keep the pixie? or should i trade it for another skelly or orc to dual wield summons in the future?pixie is VERY useful till u get might of underworld... i sold mine after that... i just didnt need it

Can anyone recommend me the best second pet to get or is keeping the blue pixie a good choice?
drop the pixie once u get to lvl80 or so... trade it for a red pixie, i personally use poultry and skell both are currently R4 and i can solo in dungeon reasonably well but my mana is a big problem... aura + might of underworld +pass dmg + support toggle = no mana in 5 mins ._.
Any information about my character and the road to level 50+ is greatly and extremely appreciated.

P.S should i bother to over breed my sorcerer just for a few more stats up?
i didnt OB, but i would suggest u do, even a small boost in str and vit will be amplified by might of the underworld... and i could really use a few more int at the moment XD

so pass damage with a skeleton is not that great ? I never knew that do i need a tanking pet for that or something ? I sold my blue pixie already considering my skeleton evades a ton and i have creature life transfer to heal him. Also I don't find myself using pixie anymore like i did in the beginning with all the evasion and passing hp and mana between me and the pet i almost have kind of infinite supply of heals by passing and sharing hp and mp with the skelly for now.

Any additional information is greatly appreciated or any advice tips etc.

Let me see if I can help you with the pet choice.

Defensively you are at a disadvantage. Well you are also at an offensive disadvantage until you get high level dual summoning but for now let your focus be staying ailve.

Now the three major aspects of fighting are fighting in a group vs mobs, fighting by yourself vs mobs and fighting against other players (group pvp/pk or not doesn't matter). At your level I believe you won't be doing much PvP so you will be looking to survive in PvE mainly at this point.

1) The tortus. You will need one levelled to at least lvl 40. Lvl 40 tortuses are fairly cheap if you can afford one if not raise it yourself like I did. The advantage of the tortus is that at lvl 40 it can increase you vit when belted. Now when I got my tortus to level 40 I belted it and reraised a second tortus to 40 for its targeted pdef buff which at lvl 5 gives +75 pdef. So using all vit stones and rings in addition to a tortus belted and one active for pdef buff worked great to bolster my weak defense. Once you get pass damage it gets better. Also be aware that high level tortuses are also good money makers. So if you plan to make it to R5 its not a bad idea to keep a tortus around for some big cash. Also at lvl 80/85 that pdef buff goes up to 150 and also another belt stat increase is gained which increases your Hp.
The tortus can also be a decent tank using its own defensive buffs but due to a sorceres limited healing and the tortuses lack of a decent self heal you won't see the true tanking potential of the tortus until much later whereas healing classes are at a better advantage using a tortus than you (cleric and breeder mainly).

2) The blue pixie. Its healing powers are terrific. In essence if you choose a blue pixie instead of a tortus you won't be sorry. With a 2h mace it will do ok damage and even though the pixie is not good defensively that won't be a bother since you will be tanking. No matter what damage you take your blue pixie will heal it. Be careful however that you don't heal near too much agro or you could end up with a dead blue pixie. An even better combination is that once yuo can form two/three pets you can summon a tortus for the def buff then desummon it and use tthe blue pixie still. At higher levels (battle summoner) with at least lvl 6-7 dual summoning a blue pixie is a superb support pet. You can basically farm indefinitely and running through dungeons even by yourself will be a pretty simple task (bar lag).

So those two pets (tortus and blue pixie) are in my opinon two of the better pets to have early on as a sorcerer.

As you progress your natural buffs and masteries will allow you to use other pet options especially once your dual summoning is lvl 6 and above. For e.g. in solo farming using two orcs equipped with 2h axes can produce amazing results. The idea here is that with Strong Warrior buff, blood aura and power support using two orcs (your own level or close) your kill speed will be phenomenal.

One final note is that higher up you will now be more inclined to PvP. The tortus/blue pixie combo won't cut it at that stage/level so at some point you will need to switch to some more PvP oriented pets:

1) The poultry/siren/skell. All three of these pets have very good skills that are very useful in PvP. They are also competent damage dealers. In addition they are agility based pets and at higher level (later R4 early R5) they can have great evasion which is further accentuated by the Aura of Halisha buff.

2) The RED PIXIE. This is one pet that has the nerf stick heading its way in E5, but until that time comes, nothing can be more intoxicating tha seeing just how much damage these fiery little buggers can put out. As an e.g. last night my Red Pix was doing 1k + damage in PvP unchipped and I did not even buff it with spirit aura. Furthermore it was using a weak mace. Combined with a 2h staff and using the fear skill, the red pix is easily a very scary PvP oponent. The downside is its very weak defense but then again you can only kill what you can touch LOL.

3) The yeti. The yeti is a late game bloomer and though its offense is nothing spectacular compared to say an orc it has two defining qualities. Huge defense/hp in addition to a most annoying (if it hits you) 10 second stun.

4) Orc/Pantera. Though I don't see many battle summoners using these two there is no denying the sheer damage potential that orcs and panteras have. The orc is perhaps the most ugly and used pet (other than blue pixie, not the ugly part lol) in E4.

Due to the versatility of the Battle Summoner late game, you are going to have a blast picking which combination works best for you!

Dam so blue pixie is useful higher levels dual summons lol i just finished selling mine for a decent price last night thinking i would not need it.

I agree with you the orc looks ugly as hell it might sound silly but its one of the reasons i never wanted one even if it does uber damage.
